Symposium IV - The 21st Century curricullum: ICT integration.

Coordenation: Maria Elizabeth Bianconcini de Almeida, Postgraduate Program in Education: Curriculum, Pontifícia Universidade Católica of São Paulo, Brazil.

Synthesis:

This proposal seeks to present the results of a research carried out from 2011 to 2013 with the objective of identifying the contributions and difficulties of training activities and educational practices, as well as the innovation evidenced, in seven Brazilian public schools connected to Project One Computer per Student, (Um Computador por Aluno, UCA – Phase II), located in the states of Goiás, Sao Paulo and Tocantins, with teacher training conducted by Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Sao Paulo.

The study has its foundations in the triad research-action-training. The methodology was based on document analysis and field research with collaborative, reflective, developmental, interpretive and qualitative and quantitative characteristics.

The research procedures were document analysis, observation log, reflective diary, interviews, questionnaires, focus groups and narrative.

Among the results, we identified changes in the reorganization of time and space of teaching work in schools, in teacher-student relationships, student-student and of those with knowledge, in the ecology of the classroom, of school and its surroundings, in the vocabulary of students; advances in students' skills in reading and expression of thought through the use of multiple languages; improvement in the self-esteem of students and teachers, increased motivation, decreased absences and school dropout; awakening of the research pleasure.

It is also evident the need to consider, in further initiatives, the integration among several dimensions: pedagogical, organizational (infrastructure and logistics), management, training of educators and public policy.
